Trenton Van Plummer
“And it looks like there’s trouble ahead…”
Indeed there is trouble ahead as states one line from the song “Walking Dead” written and performed by Trenton Van Plummer who is predicted to soon make quite the splash in the music scene. Debuting his first album titled: “Latrommi,” Plummer’s poetic lyrics, distinct vocals, unique song structure and overall feel of numerous instruments jamming alongside will send listeners on a “Goosechase” through the personal and intimate experiences of Trenton Van Plummer….and better believe…it is quite the ride!
“Latrommi,” which is an underlying theme throughout the CD symbolizing “immortality,” was recorded by Trenton Van Plummer with studio musicians and with the help of Pagoda Records, a recording company located in Indianapolis showcasing talented, up-and-coming musicians throughout the Midwest region. Pagoda has been supporting local music and helping to put the Indianapolis music scene on the map through efforts such as optimistically launching Pagoda Radio, a radio station featuring independent artists and bands.

Expect to hear anywhere from blues to bluegrass, funk to folk, and just good ol’ classic rock-n- roll on a single track on Trenton Van Plummer’s “Latrommi” and don’t be surprised if you stumble across another favorite CD! Careful though, there’s just something about Plummer’s mystique that keep the ladies admiring this long-haired, free-spirit and bizarre-humored rocker and before you know it he will be “Inside Your Head.”
You can find Trenton “Across the River” in Warsaw, Indiana where the artist grew up and currently resides in between tours. Also, look out for several upcoming Chicago performances by touring group “Trenton Van Plummer’s Circus of Strings,” along with an appearance at the music festival Knollfest coming to Indianapolis October 4, the same weekend as Penrod.

“Rootheads Reunite at The Vogue!”
By Omolade Akande
Last Thursday night, The Vogue featured Rusted Root, an organic, afro-beat, bluegrass rock band out of Pittsburg Pennsylvania and needless to say, the performance was outstanding! Within the first few beats most of the crowd made way down to the stage. Halfway through the first song…people were dancing their asses off! Incorporating a high level of spirituality into all of there songs, Rusted Root connects bass energy to get you groovin’ all night long.
Lead vocal/guitar Michael Glabicki performed alongside his band members in Thursday night’s musical interpretation with harmonious vocals, African drums, and other eurhythmics that are often found in Rusted Root performances. Although all of the band members played numerous instruments throughout the night, you could find Patrick Norman breakin’ it down on the bass and guitar, vocals/percussion Liz Berlin representing the females and bringing a sexy but classy edge to the overall stage presence, and Preach Freedom swinging his much respected dreadlocks and banging passionately on a wide array of percussion in the background.
Rusted Root tries to hit up Indianapolis about once a year before continuing their nation-wide tour; however several members expressed that they would love to do more Indianapolis shows. Thursday night was the fourth performance at The Vogue for Rusted Root and the show attracted close to 500 fans. Exclusive Backstage Coverage with Umphrey’s Mcgee!
Mid-July’s heat waves and humid atmosphere did not prevent the brightly-dressed, ready to party UmFreaks from being summoned to the stage at White River Park by Chi-town’s sons of rock, Umphreys Mcgee. “Indianapolis, its been too long,” stated lead singer/guitar player Brendan Bayliss who interrupted the show to apologize for the band’s three year absence from the City. Glow sticks flying overhead lit up the night’s sky as the psychedelic music influenced uncontrollable dancing, beach ball wars and that familiar aroma often found uniting concert fans. With the city horizon set beautifully for the band’s viewing pleaser, it wasn’t long until the band directed attention to the beautiful amber harvest moon slowly rising above the park. After finishing up the set, the band migrated backstage to reflect and chill out before heading back up to their hometown for the Saturday night’s show.
Backstage, Brenden discussed his passion for Notre Dame where many of the band members graduated and shared their up-coming plans to attend a football game early next season. Members of the band have previously appeared as guest performers in the Notre Dame marching band and expressed how the football games have started to become tradition.
Guitar/Moog synthesizer/vocalist Jake Cinninger enjoyed a brief family reunion after the show with his cousin and her friends that got to watch the performance backstage. It was only a matter of time before the popping of beers eventually triggered fun and spontaneous conversation amongst the group. Jake began to express the connection that he and other musicians often feel onstage: “The energy that we exert upon the crowd bounces back to us and creates a circular flow that connects the tempo of the music to the excitement from the crowd.” With the variety of pop, jazz, prog-metal, classical and just about any other genre of music found in Umphrey’s performances, its no wonder the band keeps the crowd energized! Jake attempted to articulate how the “energy” affected him: “For me, it always enters first through my feet, travels up my body and is released from my head and this pattern continues throughout the entire performance.” To find out the latest news with the band and check on upcoming shows check out www.umphreysmcgee.com and www.myspace.com/umphreysmcgee.
